If you're passionate about using technology to improve human life, this is where your work truly matters What you will accomplish in this role The Associate Product Owner is responsible for the prioritization, roadmap, final requirements, and the feedback-to-decision system, ensuring outcomes are delivered with technical and operational feasibility. This role bridges stakeholders (users, internal leadership and executives) and the pod team, translating business requirements into detailed user stories and prioritizing the product backlog. The Associate Product Owner is key in driving the development and delivery of products that meet market demands and drive organizational success. This role will lead the pod team and activities within HCA Healthcare's Revenue Cycle Management domain that is focused on revenue cycle management product innovation and takes on use cases that involve reasoning against clinical information. It reports to the product leader and will interact frequently with executive-level revenue cycle leadership. This person will work closely with other product owners both in the revenue cycle domain and across domains to optimize value across the enterprise. The Digital Transformation and Innovation organization's (or DT&I) mission is to bring innovative technology solutions to the clinical and administrative frontline of HCA, re-shaping healthcare processes to improve patient outcomes, empower clinicians with insights, and drive greater efficiency for all. In this role you will be responsible for innovating our care team processes, making them more intelligent, impactful, and efficient. In so doing, you will help our clinicians provide the best care possible and have a better experience in their work. What you will do in this role: Product Delivery Strategy Owns delivery mechanisms, turning product requirements into shipped outcomes, ensuring timely product feature delivery. Manage dependencies with other teams' functions while identifying, building and managing strategic partnerships across the different teams (including business and ITG) and ensure alignment across use case/data product roadmaps Oversee the development and implementation of the product, ensuring it adheres to the defined vision and goals, including the development of reusable, modular components (i.e., limited one-off or "tech-debt" code) Requirements and Backlog Management Create, prioritize, and maintain a product backlog (backlog grooming) that aligns with business goals and progress towards sprint goals and quarterly targets / OKRs Ensure user stories and requirements are clearly articulated and aligned with the vision. Work with the Tech Lead and other engineers to estimate the level of effort for each user story Continuously refine and adjust the backlog to meet changing priorities and new insights. Stakeholder Collaboration and Executive Presence Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, feedback, and insights, ensuring alignment with the overall product strategy. Escalate and unblock any pod members' dependencies/needs. Facilitate communication between pod members and other teams or shared services Serve as the primary point of contact for all product-related queries and decisions. Act as the "voice of the customer" within the pod to ensure the right thing is built Leads VP-level and organization-wide meetings to align business and technical stakeholders. Agile Process Participation Participate in Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, Demos, and Stand-Ups to ensure smooth execution of product development. Determine which user stories are completed in each sprint to achieve OKRs Lead Sprint Planning, Sprint Demo, and Sprint Retrospective alongside the Scrum Master Ensure product increments are delivered on time and meet the defined acceptance criteria. Track product performance and use data to inform decisions and future iterations.
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or other related fields- Required Master's degree in healthcare related, Business Administration or related field
- Preferred 5+ years of experience in the revenue cycle management domain area, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product goals while fostering effective collaboration within cross-functional team
- Required 3+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management or a related business role
- Required Prior experience in delivering digital products, with significant domain (i.e., use case area) knowledge/expertise and experience working with and advocating for cross-functional teams with good relationships to stakeholders.
- Required Demonstrated experience leading teams with multiple skillsets to fulfill a complex and aspirational business objective
Required Licenses, Certifications, & Training:
Certified Scrum Product Owner or similar Agile certification
