Job Summary

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic early‑career Scrum Master to support the Digital Architecture Team (DAT) in delivering cutting-edge software solutions that modernize BAE Systems digital infrastructure. The Scrum Master will be the servant‑leader of one or more Scrum teams, ensuring that SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) ceremonies run smoothly, impediments are cleared, and the team continuously improves its flow of value. This role is pivotal to driving our adoption of Lean and Agile principles and practices, and it provides a unique launch‑pad for a career in Agile delivery within a high‑security, high‑impact environment.

Responsibilities

Champion lean and Agile principles that guide the team in delivering maximum value.

Facilitate core Scrum events (Daily Stand‑up, Iteration Planning, Review, Retrospective) and support PI Planning.

Work closely with the Product Owner and Manager to keep the backlog refined, prioritized, and ready for development.

Ensure every story and task has clear acceptance criteria and a documented Definition of Done; verify that work is only marked "Done" after all criteria are satisfied.

Maintain transparent Agile metrics (velocity, burn‑up/burn‑down, cumulative flow) using JIRA, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.

Participate in backlog refinement, helping translate high‑level epics into well‑sized, ready‑to‑build stories.

Lead retrospectives that surface actionable improvement items; track implementation and report outcomes.

Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation on process adherence and compliance.

Pursue SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or Scrum Master equivalent certification within the first 12 months.

Requirements

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline (or equivalent experience).

0‑2 years of exposure to Agile/Scrum environments (internship, capstone project, or entry‑level role).

Familiarity with JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile tracking tools.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. citizen).

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

0‑2 years of hands‑on experience in an Agile/Scrum environment (internship, co‑op, capstone project, or entry‑level role).

Familiarity with SAFe® ceremonies (Iteration Planning, PI Planning, ART sync) and a working knowledge of JIRA for backlog and metric tracking.

Basic manual testing experience: ability to write and execute acceptance test cases, log defects, and confirm that the Definition of Done is met.

Strong facilitation and communication skills - comfortable running meetings, clarifying acceptance criteria, and collaborating with Product Owner, developers, and QA.

Proactive problem‑solver who can quickly identify and help remove impediments.

Willingness (or already obtained) to earn a SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification and to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. citizen).
