Ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Experience working in a power generation, industrial, manufacturing, refinery, chemical, or process facility environment Ability to perform system walkdowns and draft P&ID sketches based on field observations Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, valves, instruments, piping systems, and process flow paths Comfortable performing extensive field work in an operating plant environment
Job Summary :
We are seeking a Field P&ID Developer to support an equipment identification and documentation initiative at power generation facility in Alabama. This position will perform field walkdowns, identify plant equipment and systems, develop draft P&ID sketches from field observations, install equipment identification tags, and document discrepancies between field conditions and existing documentation. This is an on-site contract assignment expected to run through the end of the year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Perform field walkdowns to identify plant equipment, piping systems, valves, instruments, and associated components Utilize P&IDs and engineering documentation to verify equipment identification and system configuration Install equipment identification tags throughout the facility Document discrepancies between field conditions and existing engineering documentation Mark up drawings and documentation to support future revisions and updates Coordinate with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and documentation personnel Maintain accurate records of completed work and field verification activities Support documentation improvement initiatives and asset management projects Follow all plant safety procedures and site requirements while performing field activities
Job Requirements :
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and basic engineering drawings Ability to sketch and develop draft P&IDs from field observations Understanding of mechanical equipment commonly found in industrial or power generation facilities Strong organizational and documentation skills Ability to work in an active industrial environment and perform extensive walking throughout the facility Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel Education /
Experience :
Associate degree or technical training in engineering technology, drafting, industrial technology, or related field preferred Experience reading and developing P&IDs required Experience working in power generation, industrial manufacturing, chemical processing, refinery, or similar industrial environments preferred Piping design, drafting, technical documentation, or plant configuration management experience is a plus
