Job Description This individual will work within a multidisciplinary Agile team to automate the Post-Test Analysis pipeline used for missile defense test and simulation data. The Lead Software Engineer will own the technical direction and architecture of an automated Post-Test Analysis solution. They will work closely with the prime contractor, customer stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and the broader development team to understand CONOPs, test procedures, data parameters, system behaviors, and qualification requirements.
The lead will define how raw system logs, telemetry, sensor data, target trajectories, and ground-truth information are ingested, parsed, reduced, aligned, validated, visualized, and stored. They will guide the development of modular Python libraries, Jupyter Notebook workflows, automated test-step validation, timeline-inspection tools, diagnostic dashboards, mission-reconstruction visualizations, and standardized qualification reports.
This person will remain hands-on with architecture and development while providing technical guidance to four junior-to-mid-level engineers and scientists. Responsibilities will include breaking features into actionable Jira work, reviewing designs and code, resolving complex technical issues, establishing TDD and software-quality standards, and ensuring consistent use of Git, Docker, unit testing, integration testing, and automated build processes.
The lead will also conduct tool trade studies, present recommendations to leadership, facilitate bi-monthly working-code demonstrations, coordinate quarterly software builds, and ensure that deliverables are technically accurate and ready for customer and peer review. While this person will guide the team's technical execution, the position does not require traditional direct-report or personnel-management responsibilities. Skills and Requirements
