In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, test, and modernize software for mission-critical military systems. Senior engineers are expected to work with a high degree of independence, solve complex software and system integration problems, and provide technical guidance to other members of the engineering team. You will collaborate with software, systems, hardware, cyber, safety, and test teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for military systems. Perform requirements analysis, software design, implementation, testing, and documentation throughout the software development lifecycle. Develop maintainable software using C/C++ and other object-oriented programming languages based on program needs. Develop and maintain unit tests and automated build and test workflows. Diagnose and resolve complex software, hardware/software integration, and system-level issues. Participate in and contribute to software and system design reviews and technical interchange meetings. Work within an Agile software development environment. Collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated software capabilities. Evaluate existing software and identify opportunities for modernization, improved maintainability, and reduced technical risk. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers. Contribute to software design decisions and help ensure implementations align with program requirements and engineering standards. Required Qualifications Active Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required due to security clearance requirements. Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of relevant software engineering experience . An additional six years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Strong experience with C/C++ and object-oriented software development. Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and integrating complex software systems. Experience developing and maintaining unit tests. Experience troubleshooting complex software and system integration problems. Experience working in Linux development environments. Experience with Git or similar source control systems. Experience working in an Agile software development environment. Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to other engineers. Ability to travel up to 10%. Preferred Qualifications Embedded or real-time software development experience. Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). Hardware/software integration experience. Microsoft Azure DevOps experience. Experience with safety-critical software. Experience with UML, SysML, MBSE, or architecture modeling tools. Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy software systems. Experience mentoring or providing technical direction to software engineers.
