About the Role Ontra is seeking a Legal Solutions Engineer reporting to the Director on our Sales Engineering team. We're looking for a former practicing attorney who is excited to apply their private markets expertise in a customer-facing role, helping law firms, fund managers, and financial institutions modernize legal workflows through AI-native technology. In this role, you'll leverage your legal background to build credibility with customers, translate complex legal concepts into practical business solutions, and demonstrate how Ontra's AI-powered platform transforms the way legal work gets done. We expect this role will travel to customers, events, and offsites at least once per month. What You'll Do Legal & AI Solutions Expertise:
Leverage your experience as a practicing attorney to understand customer challenges, conduct thoughtful discovery, and demonstrate how Ontra's AI-native platform addresses complex legal and operational workflows across private markets.
Customer Engagement:
Serve as a trusted legal and product expert throughout the sales process, engaging prospective and existing customers in strategic conversations that connect their legal needs.
Operational Excellence:
Maintain accurate CRM records, conduct thoughtful call reviews, and capture customer insights to support a seamless sales process and continuously improve team effectiveness.
Strategic Collaboration:
Partner closely with Account Executives, Product, Customer Success, and cross-functional teams to align on customer strategy, share market feedback, and contribute to the continued evolution of Ontra's AI-native offerings and solutions.
Sales & Product Enablement:
Stay current on developments across private markets, legal technology, and AI while continuously building expertise in Ontra's platform through ongoing training and enablement.
What You'll Bring Experience:
2+ years as a practicing attorney within private markets or at an outside law firm serving private markets clients. Experience advising fund managers, investors, or other financial institutions is preferred. Prior experience with legal technology, AI-powered solutions, or compliance platforms is a plus.
Customer & Commercial Mindset:
Strong relationship-building and consultative skills with a genuine interest in helping customers solve complex legal and business challenges. Previous customer-facing experience is preferred but not required.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex legal and technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
Collaboration:
Passion for building trusted partnerships across Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Engineering while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Problem Solving & Learning:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly learn new technologies, adapt to evolving AI capabilities, and confidently apply your legal expertise in a fast-paced environment.

A process-oriented mindset with a passion for improving workflows, identifying scalable solutions, and contributing to the growth of a rapidly evolving AI-native organization.
