You'll help design, deploy, and maintain the control systems that make Physical AI practical and commercially viable. This isn't a narrow role — you'll thrive in a small, driven team where ownership, speed, and creativity matter. You'll get hands-on with robots, build robust testing and diagnostic systems, and work directly with customers to ensure real-world success. Company We are a VC-backed startup that is assembling a world-class team to build general-purpose robots. While competitors pursue end-to-end integration, we are relentlessly focused on creating the best labor platform, akin to Apple and Nvidia, for others to build, monetize, and scale on. Responsibilities Develop, test, and tune low-level and high-level control algorithms for humanoid robots. Build and own the entire test suite for our humanoid robot systems, ensuring robustness and reliability across real-world scenarios. Design and implement debugging and diagnostic tools to quickly identify and resolve system issues. Deploy robots to customer sites and work directly on-site to debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges. Implement new features and enhancements based on customer needs and real-world feedback. Continuously improve the reliability and performance of the codebase and deployed systems. Implement real-time control strategies for locomotion, manipulation, and whole-body coordination. Collaborate with mechanical and AI engineers to integrate perception, planning, and control into a unified system. Run experiments on hardware to evaluate performance, debug complex behaviors, and improve reliability. Qualifications Strong background in control theory, dynamics, and numerical methods. Experience with one or more of: robot locomotion, manipulation, trajectory optimization, or whole-body control. Proven ability to build testing frameworks, debugging tools, or reliability infrastructure for complex systems. Experience working with deployed systems in real-world environments (customer-facing or field engineering experience is a plus). Proficiency in Python, C++, and Rust for implementation. Bachelor's, Master's degree, or PhD in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. Why Join Us? You want real ownership and the chance to shape the future of Physical AI at a company that moves fast and executes with purpose. By joining Feather, you'll gain unparalleled exposure to building humanoid robots from the ground up and contribute directly to systems that will define the next era of robotics.
