We're a manufacturing technology company replacing months of lead time with days, using proprietary software, automation, and advanced manufacturing systems built for speed. Our customers are inventing what's next, in aerospace, defense, robotics, and beyond. To keep up with them, manufacturing has to change. That's what we're building. We are looking for highly motivated Software Engineers to join our team as key members of our growing engineering function. This is a high-impact role that presents a unique opportunity to make decisions that shape the technical trajectory of Layup. You are an ideal candidate if you are looking to join an exceptional team and play a significant role in the growth and success of an early-stage startup. We can hire at various levels and need both frontend and backend skillsets. It's also ok to be more frontend or backend leaning. What You Will Do Build and expand our proprietary Factory Operating System, the software platform that orchestrates production from quote to shipment. Develop interfaces and integrations for manufacturing equipment, capturing real-time production data and turning it into actionable insights. Implement features for our customer portal, creating a seamless experience from project submission through delivery. Create internal tools that automate workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and increase manufacturing throughput. Partner closely with manufacturing, operations, and production teams to solve real-world problems through software. Mentor teammates and help foster a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous improvement. What We're Looking For Being awesome! Be the kind of person you want to work with! 3 - 4+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience. Strong proficiency in C++, Java, Go, C#, or a similar statically typed programming language. Experience building, shipping, and maintaining production React applications. Strong engineering fundamentals with a focus on building reliable, maintainable software. Proven ability to independently own and drive projects from definition through delivery. Experience building software for internal users, customers, or other stakeholders, with an ability to understand their needs and translate them into effective solutions. Comfortable working in a startup or similarly fast-paced environment where priorities evolve quickly and engineers are expected to operate with a high degree of ownership. Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established codebases. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. Bonus Points Programming experience in Go. Experience working with manufacturing systems, industrial automation, MES, ERP, or machine integrations. Familiarity with manufacturing environments or software that interacts with physical production processes. Final compensation is based on your experience, skills, and what you bring to the table.
