About the Position Contrast seeks a seasoned Software Engineer II to join our team, focusing on the critical intersection of data and product development. This mixed role is responsible for building and maintaining robust data platforms to power business intelligence (BI) and in-product reporting tools. You will be a key contributor to our data modernization strategy and ensure the delivery of high-quality, actionable data feeds across our product verticals. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data feeds to support both BI reporting and core product features. Contribute to the ongoing data platform modernization Work on problems of diverse scope, performing deep analysis of data to identify and resolve a wide range of technical issues. Consistently perform high-quality design, coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development lifecycle. Maintain and support internal product areas, ensuring stability and performance. Mentor and proactively assist newer team members and interns, contributing to the team's technical knowledge base. Qualifications You have at least 3-5 years of experience building modern, scalable, and high-performing backend web applications. You have strong communication skills. You ask questions, let others know when you need help, and tell others what you need. Proficiency in Java, Python, and SQL. Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing concepts (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery are a plus). A seasoned professional with a full understanding of the stack and languages pertaining to data and backend systems. You're a problem solver. You believe the best work is the result of finding the simplest solution to complex challenges. Your code is clean, your designs are elegant and you are constantly refactoring. You own your work. Whether a nasty bug or an awesome feature, you put your name on every line of code. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
