We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Bluetooth SoftwarePerformance Lead Engineer to lead a team of performance engineers and spearheadthe optimization of software design across Apple's latest product lines, including thenext generation of iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, Mac, and more. In this role,you will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership to shape performancestrategy and drive results from early prototyping through productization. Description As a lead member of the Connectivity Firmware Performance team, you will beresponsible for guiding and mentoring a team of Bluetooth performance engineers,setting technical direction, and ensuring the successful execution of performanceevaluation initiatives. You will define performance strategies at a system and productlevel, aligning engineering efforts with product goals and Apple's high standards forquality. Responsibilities Lead, guide, and mentor a team of Bluetooth performance engineers, providing clear direction on performance evaluations, root cause analyses, and optimization efforts Define new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) derived from new Bluetooth features and capabilities, ensuring they accurately reflect real-world product performance and user experience goals Own the end-to-end performance evaluation plan, including methodology design, test strategy, tooling requirements, and success criteria across SW/HW prototypes and production builds Synthesize performance evaluation results into clear, actionable insights for leadership, including identification of performance gaps, risk assessments, and concrete resolution plans with trade-off analysis at both system and product levels Partner closely with firmware, hardware, systems, and product teams to influence software design decisions and ensure performance considerations are embedded throughout the development lifecycle Continuously evolve performance evaluation frameworks, leveraging data science and AI/ML techniques to improve diagnostic capabilities and predictive analysis for Bluetooth performance challenges Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience Deep expertise in Bluetooth protocols and wireless system architecture Experience leading or technically mentoring engineers on complex, cross-functional projects Strong background in RF, digital signal processing, and wireless communications Proficiency in Python, including hands-on use of data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib) for large-scale data manipulation, analysis, and visualization Preferred Qualifications Experience with power and performance trade-off analysis at system and product levels Background in applying AI/ML techniques to wireless performance problems Experience across multiple layers of wireless system architecture (PHY, MAC, host stack, application) Track record of driving performance improvements from prototype through mass production Ability to navigate ambiguous problems and adjust strategies as new data and constraints emerge Strong sense of ownership with the ability to drive efforts to resolution under tight schedules Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
