Job Description

This is a 3-month contract position for a Senior DevOps Engineer - Storage Platforms, based in San Ramon, California. The role focuses on building, automating, and operating large-scale Software Defined Storage (SDS) and Kubernetes platforms. You will apply expert-level technical knowledge of SDS, Kubernetes, and Linux with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and GitOps to ensure high-throughput and mission-critical resilience. Responsibilities Operate and scale Software Defined Storage architectures (Ceph, Longhorn) alongside enterprise platforms (Pure, HPE, NetApp). Integrate self-service storage workflows for Kubernetes CSI and OpenStack consumers. Maintain and build IaC for storage platforms using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, and Git with Python/Bash scripting. Implement CI/CD pipelines for storage patching/upgrades and enhance Prometheus/Grafana monitoring for capacity, latency, and IOPS. Perform deep troubleshooting across storage, Kubernetes, and Linux layers, participating in incident response and root-cause analysis. Manage and optimize enterprise backup solutions (preferably Rubrik). Qualifications Required 6+ years of enterprise storage and Kubernetes platform management on Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL). Strong hands-on experience with SDS (Ceph, Longhorn) and legacy storage migrations. Expertise in block, file, and object storage protocols (FC, NVMe-oF, iSCSI). Heavy proficiency in IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting (Python, Bash). Experience with KVM hypervisors (Suse Harvester, OpenStack). Proven track record in 24×7 mission-critical production environments. Preferred OpenStack Cinder multi-backend administration.
Active certifications:
CKA, CKS, or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ceph Storage Administration (EX125).
