The Configuration Engineer I is an entry‑level engineering role responsible for defining, maintaining, and optimizing the configuration of gas turbine, steam turbine, and auxiliary system components, assemblies, and service kits. This position supports the reliability and effectiveness of Mitsubishi Power's service operations by maintaining engineering databases, data exchanges, system interfaces, and business processes that provide accurate configuration and product information across the installed fleet. The role also supports customer parts inquiries by identifying and assigning correct part numbers, ensuring complete engineering definitions are available for sourcing and manufacturing, and helping maintain accurate engineering data to support efficient quoting, procurement, and aftermarket service activities.

Develop and maintain configuration specifications for gas turbines, steam turbines, and auxiliary systems, including design and service BOMs, parts catalogs, and quotable/procurable part definitions throughout the equipment lifecycle.
Collect, analyze, and consolidate engineering and business data to accurately document as‑built configurations, maintenance updates, and installation records across the Mitsubishi Power fleet.
Support configuration management initiatives by identifying process improvements, recommending system enhancements, and helping automate and streamline configuration workflows.
Provide technical support for system design, testing, and implementation activities, including ongoing part consolidation and data management efforts.
Maintain engineering databases, system interfaces, and configuration records to ensure rapid access to accurate and current product information.
Respond to customer and LTSA parts requests, supporting part identification, definition, publishing, and engineering clarification activities to enable timely quoting and procurement.
Evaluate equipment interchangeability and upgrade opportunities, supporting engineering and business teams with configuration planning and decision-making.
Support
ISO 9001
compliance activities, including audits, documentation, and adherence to quality management processes.
Provide periodic after-hours on-call support for active customer outages, assisting with urgent parts identification and configuration-related inquiries.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned, including limited domestic and international travel as required. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
Knowledge of or experience with configuration management, systems engineering, power generation equipment, manufacturing, engineering documentation, and product lifecycle processes preferred. Experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, combined-cycle power plants, fabrication, machining, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), materials engineering, and work instructions is highly desirable.
Familiarity with enterprise engineering systems, including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms. Experience with Windchill, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred.
Japanese language proficiency, particularly technical or engineering terminology related to manufacturing or power generation, is highly desirable.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to perform engineering calculations, interpret technical requirements, and make sound decisions based on specifications, standards, and available data.
Proficiency with business and engineering software tools, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), PDF editing, data visualization, file sharing, and project management software. Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, macros, VBA, and complex data analysis, are highly desirable.
Experience with technical and engineering tools such as Power BI, Primavera P6, Creo, AutoCAD, Windchill, SAP, Dynamics 365, Arbortext, SDx, or similar platforms is preferred. Why Should You Apply? Excellent Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision & 401K Matching).
