Role Description The Software Engineer - Autonomous Vehicles, Robotics & Controls role is an on-site position based in Lake Mary, FL. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining software that enables autonomous operation, robotic control, and integration of laser systems within industrial environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing and testing control algorithms, writing clean and efficient code for back-end systems, and collaborating with hardware, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to integrate software with laser equipment and robotic platforms. The Software Engineer will participate in requirements gathering, system architecture discussions, and performance optimization to improve reliability, safety, and throughput. The role also involves troubleshooting, debugging, and documenting software solutions, as well as supporting continuous improvement and new feature development for production systems. Qualifications Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles. Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). Experience with Back-End Web Development and building scalable, secure services and APIs. Background or coursework in robotics, controls, automation, or real-time systems is highly beneficial. Experience with autonomous vehicles, industrial robotics, motion control, or embedded systems is a plus. Familiarity with common programming languages used in controls and robotics (e.g., C/C++, Python, or similar). Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and document technical work thoroughly.
