BITCO Corporation is currently seeking an intern to join the Application Development team at our Home Office in Davenport, IA for Summer 2026. With 11 branch offices in 10 states, BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including construction, energy, and forest products. About the
Program:
BITCO's summer internship program is designed to provide educational and professional opportunities to students pursuing careers in commercial insurance or business-related fields. Interns will be assigned a variety of work that will help them develop the skills needed to succeed in their career. In addition to on-the-job experience, interns will have the opportunity to: Network with company leaders, other interns and trainees, and professionals who are leaders in the industry Receive individualized guidance from a mentor Participate in teambuilding and community service events Receive competitive compensation Assistance with housing for the summer Individualized evaluation with career development tips
Position Summary:
The focus of this position is to develop knowledge about corporate software development functions and the insurance industry. Interns will focus on developing the skills necessary for success in the information technology and software development space by working on technical tasks and walking through the solution design process for an internal project.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in the full software development life cycle, including solution design, architecture discussions, documentation, development, debugging, and integration work. Lead an intern-driven project to design and implement a centralized documentation solution, selecting an appropriate toolset (e.g. PowerApps, SharePoint, 3rd party libraries, etc.) Build features or low-code components to support documentation organization, searchability, categorization, and user experience improvements. Work on ad hoc development assignments to gain exposure to real-world software development tasks. Develop software using C#, .Net, Power Apps/Power Platform and integrate with services as needed. Use Git and Azure DevOps for source control, work tracking, reviewing pull requests, and participating in the team's iterative SDLC practices. Collaborate with other developers to gather requirements, clarify use cases, and iterate on solutions. Create clear technical documentation and may present features, findings, or final project outcomes to the team. Participate in code reviews and contribute to high‑quality code and documentation standards. Actively participate in summer internship program events, such as lunch and learns, training, and networking
Qualifications:
Must be working toward a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or Management Information Systems. Effective communication skills for collaborating with technical peers and documenting work. Self-motivated, with the proven desire to learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies Basic understanding of object‑oriented programming concepts or experience with low‑code tools. Familiarity with C#, .NET, or Power Apps preferred (coursework or project experience acceptable). Ability to work independently as well as in a team in a collaborative, iterative, development effort. Ability to follow Software Development Lifecycle Ability to follow instruction and follow through on tasks Good time management and organization skills to balance project work and ad hoc tasks. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer programs Basic understanding of object-oriented programming concepts or experience with low-code tools. (C# (.NET) or Power Apps experience nice to have) Exposure to SQL Server, Git, Azure tools, or Azure DevOps is a plus. Must be dependable and available to work for the duration of the internship program
