This is an excellent opportunity for an RPG developer who enjoys supporting mission-critical systems while contributing to modernization initiatives on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining key business applications while helping modernize the environment through SQL, APIs, web services, Visual Studio Code, and AI-assisted development tools. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities:
Develop, enhance, and maintain core business applications using RPG IV/ILE and RPG Free. Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into functional and technical solutions. Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and quality assurance activities. Create and maintain technical documentation for assigned projects. Support development standards, deployment processes, and best practices. Contribute to modernization initiatives using SQL, APIs, web services, Visual Studio Code, and AI-assisted development tools. Troubleshoot production issues and work closely with business users and IT teams to resolve them in a timely manner. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing applications to ensure reliability and performance.Qualifications:
Proven experience delivering software solutions through the full development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment. Strong experience with IBM i (AS/400) technologies, including:RPG IV/ILE RPG
Free SQL (including embedded SQL in RPG) CL Experience using Visual Studio Code with IBM i extensions is a plus. Knowledge of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.Pay:
