Job Description A large retail company is investing in a growing AI Center of Excellence to drive meaningful improvements across our retail platforms, operations, and customer experiences. As a Junior Software Engineer on this team, you'll play a hands-on role maintaining and enhancing AI-driven applications while building a strong foundation in modern software engineering and applied AI. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is curious, coachable, and excited to learn. You'll work closely with senior engineers and data scientists, contribute to real production systems, and grow your skills through mentorship and meaningful work.
Pay Rate:

Skills and Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field 0-2 years of professional software development experience (internships and meaningful academic/personal projects are highly valued) Eagerness to learn, grow, and develop within both software engineering and AI-focused environments Familiarity or experience with APIs, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and version control (Git) Familiarity or experience with Python or other modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, such as Next.js Ability and willingness to work onsite 3-4x days per week Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams - Exposure to AI/ML concepts, large language models (LLMs), or AI tooling (even at a foundational level) Experience with cloud platforms (Azure is a plus), Docker, or basic CI/CD concepts Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.) in daily development work Previous work on backend services, data pipelines, or full-stack applications Interest in retail, e-commerce, inventory systems, or customer-facing platforms A portfolio or GitHub profile that demonstrates initiative in software engineering or AI-related projects
