Required Combination of Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant fieldRequired Skills for the Software Engineer
  • Software development: strong programming fundamentals and practices; ability to understand, refactor, and modernize complex legacy code bases; experience with C++, code conversion, debugging, version control
  • Analytical Thinking: ability to work with large datasets and derive meaningful insights, strong problem solving skills in evaluating simulation outputs and discrepancies, ability to connect quantitative results with real-world business outcomes
  • Programming Languages: Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages
  • Business Statistics: Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions
  • Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use

Software Engineer Overview:

As a Software Engineer, will be responsible for modernizing a critical business simulation tool by converting legacy FORTRAN code into a modern programming language such as C++. You will partner with business stakeholders and end users to validate functionality, test solutions, and ensure the new application meets operational needs. This role requires strong programming skills, the ability to learn complex business processes, and a data-driven mindset.



Responsibilities

  • Modernize a critical business simulation tool by converting legacy FORTRAN code into a modern programming language
  • C+•Analyze, maintain, and enhance complex simulation models used to evaluate significant business and operational changes•Partner with business stakeholders and end users to validate requirements, conduct testing, and ensure functional alignment between legacy and modernized solutions•Apply business context and user feedback to identify gaps, troubleshoot issues, and improve solution effectiveness•Direct data gathering, data mining, and data processing activities across large and complex datasets•Define analytical requirements, conduct research, and communicate actionable insights through data visualization and reporting tools•Perform statistical modeling and analysis related to Company and dealer parts demand, inventory, and supply chain performance•Develop and enhance inventory optimization techniques and execute inventory management simulations•Utilize programming languages and analytical tools to develop data-driven solutions•Build expertise in inventory management systems, parts management practices, and business processes•Effectively communicate complex technical concepts, analyses, and recommendations to stakeholders and internal customers
