Job Summary:
The Connectivity System Solution Division is seeking a leader to fill the Connectivity Systems Architect Leader position. This role is responsible for defining the connectivity system architecture in alignment with Cat Technology internal and external business partners (suppliers), including Cat Digital, to meet customer solution needs. The position will collaborate closely with Cat Technology leaders, product groups, suppliers, and industry technology leaders to define the connectivity roadmap across cellular, satellite, and short-range wireless technologies (UWB, Bluetooth, NFC, etc.), based off market intelligence, trends and customer requirements. The role will also partner with Cat Technology internal development teams to streamline end-to-end testing by leveraging industry best practices and tools. In addition, this position will work regularly with customer solutions teams (core and growth) and product groups to establish a single, trusted source for requirements documentation—including marketing, functional, system, software, and hardware requirements—to effectively meet business partner and customer needs.
What You Will Do:
Work with Cat Technology and Digital Tech Stewards, clients, and process partners to develop & maintain roadmaps and strategies for Connectivity System. Leadership of the Connectivity Systems Architecture (sensing, network/transmission, gateway, data management, application, etc.) Defining the connectivity system architecture in alignment with Intelligent Machine System and APT. Lead the development of proof of concepts to validate the feasibility of the proposed solutions and to demonstrate key functionalities to stakeholders Design systems that can handle large volumes of data and scale efficiently as the number of connected devices grows. This involves optimizing performance, minimizing latency, and managing resource utilization effectively Working with hardware, firmware, software, colud and business stakeholders to turn requirements into technical blueprints Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, project managers, and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment with project goals and requirements. Work with members of the CI and RI tech forum to prioritize features related to Tech Platform projects that will benefit Caterpillar customers Mentor and grow SMEs in US, India and China Manage the team's budget
What You Will Have:
System Design & Strategy:
Architecting end-to-end IoT solutions that meet the specific Connectivity requirements from Caterpillar customers. This involves understanding business objectives, analyzing technical requirements, and designing scalable and efficient architectures.
Technical Expertise:
Strong background in embedded systems, firmware development, cloud technologies (API, AWS/Azure), and networking protocols
Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Communicating for

Knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations.
Collaborating Globally:
Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results. Top Candidates will also have Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Proven system and architecture experience in automotive and related industry Proven experience in IoT solution design and deployment Embedded system experience is preferred Proven team leadership experience Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to persuade others on new technologies, or potential solutions Experience with the New Product Introduction (NPI) process on engine or machine products Demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills
Additional Details:
This position requires the candidate to work full-time at our Mossville, IL office. Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position. Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position. This position may require up to 20% travel
Summary Pay Range:
$159,120.00 - $238,680.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
