Job Description

Boys Town and Boys Town National Research Hospital are changing the way America cares for children and families. As one of the largest national child and family care organizations in the country, and one of the leading research hospitals in the country, Boys Town is currently looking for a Software Developer. In this role, you will code, test and develop applications, integrations to support Boys Town's organizational requirements. We are looking for an individual who will take the initiative, has solid communication skills to work across the enterprise, and is looking for an opportunity to expand their skills in a growing environment. Position is on site. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are not offering sponsorship to applicants for employment visa status.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Develops, documents, and tests software that meets system specifications and user requirements. Develops new software functions, integrations or modules using one of the organization's application platforms. Develops new software applications or modules using one of the organization's standard programming languages Maintains and updates existing software applications. Collaborates with senior staff regarding software additions or revisions. Adheres to project timelines and scope. Tests application programs thoroughly by performing unit testing. Maintains coding standards and naming conventions. Develops support materials for developed software including program documentation and operational instructions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of software development procedures and best practices. High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills. Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner. Ability to translate complex data into understandable conclusions and recommendations. Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards. Knowledge of Microsoft products and relational databases; ability to read and write SQL statements. Basic development skills in .NET, Java, XML / JSON, XSLT and Cloud Computing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Accreditation in Computer Science or related field (or on track to graduate within 90 days of hire) OR minimum of 2 years of programming and developing experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical certifications preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
