BENEFITS QUESTIONS About this Job The Division of Administration/Office of Technology Services has a vacancy. This promotional position is located in the Applications and Data Management Section. Req. 218403 The Office of Technology Services aims to be a responsible partner in delivering innovative, effective, and reliable solutions that support and enhance the IT functions within Executive Branch Departments. The Office of Technology Services will work to increase the return on the State's investment in technology by promoting smart decision-making, solving problems intelligently, increasing the rate of project success, and fostering a skilled and professional staff. The Division of Administration is the state government's management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including the following: Overseeing the state's capital construction program Working to provide state and federal grants for community development Development of the state budget Providing technology services Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes The IT Statewide Applications SR Developer 1, 2, or 3 serves as primary high level technical consultant for the installation and maintenance of the highly complex statewide LaGov SAP R/3 systems and related products for all State agencies. Researches and implements the best practices for design, installation, and enhancement package upgrades of the SAP NetWeaver software necessary to operate the LaGov Systems with main emphasis on SAP Enterprise Portal. These activities often require after-hours scheduling due to extensive availability requirements. Coordinates the design, development and installation of in-house software packages or modifications to vendor packages by designing work and specifications. Customizes and modifies software, as needed, to support critical business needs. Consults regularly with vendors concerning software and/or hardware problems, resolutions and system performance. Advises and consults with end-users, administrators, technical support personnel and consultants, designing and providing documentation, instruction, problem analysis and education pertaining to specific and highly complex areas of hardware and software performance. Minimum Qualifications Five years of experience in information technology; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in information technology; OR An associate's degree in information technology plus three years of experience in information technology; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in information technology; OR A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus two years of experience in information technology; OR A master's degree plus two years of experience in information technology.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Works with fellow team members, the Technical Support Managers within the OTS Data Center Operations, and the IT Statewide Directors to develop strategies for business continuity and disaster recovery within area of responsibility. Follows and promotes best practices for Information Security and IT Service Management. Helps coordinate audit response and ensures compliance with all IT directives and mandates within area of responsibility. Provides problem determination for incident reports by the user community for the various departments pertaining to the highly complex LaGov SAP environments. This includes hardware and software problems on the mainframe and/or servers. Follows up with users when necessary. Responsible for keeping abreast of new products in the industry, testing of new products and product upgrades, recommending training requirements, planning and conducting the implementation and subsequent product support. Recommends standards and procedures for LaGov SAP functions. Attends formal training in advanced systems, studies hardware configurations, operating systems, application program packages, and software programming languages. Evaluates and recommends the selection of highly complex vendor supplied software packages and hardware. Recommends and prepares specifications for modifications and customization of purchased software. Designs, programs, implements and maintains site-specific computer programs and I or subroutines using program languages that are designed to aid in the management of the LaGov SAP environments. Performs all other tasks, special projects, analysis, studies, and plans as directed.

 This vacancy will be filled by promotion of a current permanent status Office of Technology Services employee. A permanent status employee may be required to serve a new probationary period in lieu of promotion.

 This vacancy participates in a career progression group and may be filled from this recruitment as a IT Statewide Applications Senior Developer 1, 2 or 3.
Location:
This is a full-time, on-site position located in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Louisiana is a "State as a Model Employer" for People with Disabilities.
