Job Summary
The Technical Workday Manager will serve as a bridge between HR business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, owning end-to-end management and solution design across Workday HCM, integrations, and security. The role will lead Workday developers and provide hands-on technical guidance to design scalable, compliant, and efficient enterprise solutions. This position will oversee integration delivery, security governance, functional configuration, vendor management, program execution, stakeholder engagement, release management, and technical team development. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and provide technical direction to Workday integration developers while driving improvements in Workday technology processes.
- Oversee the design and support of inbound and outbound integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, REST/SOAP APIs, BIRT, XML, XSLT, and Workday Orchestrate.
- Oversee vendor management for the Workday integration portfolio, including payroll providers, benefits vendors, ServiceNow, and background check vendors.
- Manage production support and maintenance for Workday integrations and related vendors.
- Oversee Workday Security administration developers and align security activities with the operating model.
- Provide production support for security assignments and enhance controls through security reviews.
- Execute Workday tenant scramble and refresh plans.
- Provide design guidance for Workday Security configuration, including Business Process configuration and policies, integration security segments, and report security.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks for access, role rationalization, and audit readiness.
- Conduct regular Workday access audits to ensure accuracy and compliance and support security audit requests in collaboration with HR, HR Risk, and leadership teams.
- Partner with HR Systems leads to provide design guidance across Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Recruiting, Talent, and Payroll modules.
- Identify automation opportunities between functional configuration and technical development within Workday.
- Conduct impact assessments for releases, enhancements, and regulatory changes.
- Lead technical workshops and discovery sessions.
- Translate business requirements documents into user stories and technical design documentation.
- Provide executive-level updates on roadmap, risks, and integration stability.
- Mentor junior analysts, integration developers, and functional configurators.
- Drive release management strategy and coordinate regression testing.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, HR Systems documentation, frameworks, and process guides. Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of Workday experience in HCM configuration, integration, and/or security.
- Experience supporting or leading full-lifecycle Workday implementations or major tenant refreshes.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Strong understanding of data governance, SOX controls, SDLC management, and security best practices.
- Ability to provide a proactive and independent approach to problem-solving and identify opportunities for system improvement.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and adjust to shifting priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong risk identification and remediation/mitigation capabilities.
- Strong technical, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications
