SALARY RANGE
$190,000 - $247,000/year. DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Application Engineer IV role, you will work across multiple hosting platforms supporting Linux virtual machines (VMs). In this position, you will gain deep domain knowledge of the product while diving into key areas of virtual machine management and DevOps to ensure high system availability and operational support. Required Skills SKILLS Administer, secure, and maintain standalone and clustered Linux virtual machines (RHEL 8/9) across OpenStack, VMware, and AWS cloud environments Manage and troubleshoot production Kubernetes clusters using Rancher and native Kubernetes commands to ensure optimal node and pod health Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate infrastructure changes, software deployments, and system configurations Support Apache NiFi environments by managing configuration updates, monitoring dataflows, and resolving connectivity or resource bottlenecks Execute full server and PKI certificate lifecycle management, system hardening, and software patching via YUM to meet STIG and SSP security standards Analyze system, container, and application logs to perform root-cause troubleshooting and resolve performance issues Partner with development teams and end users to provide operational support ranging from routine configuration changes to complex cluster builds
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. plus Four (4) years of experience, a Master's degree plus Six (6) years of experience, a Bachelor's degree plus Eight (8) years of experience, or an Associate's degree plus Ten (10) years of professional experience is acceptable. Twelve (12) years of relevant experience is acceptable if the candidate does not possess a degree.
Additional Requirements:
Strong Linux administration skills, specifically with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9) Hands-on experience monitoring, managing, and maintaining production Linux VMs Experience managing containerized workloads using Kubernetes, Docker, and Rancher Working knowledge of Ansible for infrastructure automation and configuration management Familiarity with Apache NiFi or similar enterprise data integration tools Proven experience analyzing VM and application logs to isolate and resolve root-cause performance or software issues Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot OS, performance, and network-related issues in Linux environments Experience applying security hardening frameworks (STIG, STE, NIST) and maintaining compliance documentation (SSP) Experience with network flow monitoring tools
CERTIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES A
CompTIA Security+ certification is required.
