Halcyon Days Consulting, LLC (HDC) is a veteran owned small business that specializes in the design and engineering of Tactical Mission Networks (TMN). This is a unique opportunity to join a small and high-performing team committed to delivering cloud platforms for exciting missions.

We are seeking a Technical Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of complex software and infrastructure solutions across multiple programs. This is a hands-on leadership role w you'll architect systems, mentor engineers, and ensure technical alignment with customer mission objectives. The ideal candidate is a seasoned technologist with a track record of leading agile teams and delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing systems—often in classified or tactical environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Lead the day-to-day technical direction of full-stack, cloud-native, or tactical software development teams, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and technical best practices-Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while conducting design sessions, performing code reviews, and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers-Collaborate with project managers and program leads to translate mission requirements into actionable technical tasks and sprints, ensure on-time and in-scope execution aligned with quality standards, and proactively identify and mitigate technical risks-Serve as a technical point of contact for government and commercial clients by supporting briefings, demonstrations, and roadmap discussions, and contributing to proposals, white papers, and R D initiatives as needed-Foster a collaborative, innovative, and mission-focused engineering culture while promoting continuous improvement in team processes and engineering practices
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in software engineering, cloud architecture, or systems development, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • Proven experience architecting and developing systems using modern tech stacks such as:
  • Cloud:
    AWS, Azure, or other IaaS/PaaS
  • Containers/CI/CD:
    Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI, Jenkins
  • Languages:
    Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, etc.
  • Deep understanding of secure coding practices, DevSecOps, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with tactical communications, or mission network systems
  • Prior work in defense or intelligence programs
  • Familiarity with dataflow architectures, Kafka/NiFi, or geospatial data platforms
  • Agile/Scrum experience, and familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, GitLab
SALARY RANGE
$200-250,000 This salary range is an hourly exempt (exempt from overtime) position. Benefits are provided in addition to the salary range.
