We are seeking a Senior Python Developer for a contract position based in Auburn, Maine. This role spans six months or longer and focuses on modernizing and integrating the data engineering organization's Analytical Work Bench—a sophisticated integrated development environment—with another internally developed application. You will also contribute to building a Jupyter Lab-based IDE using custom code, and integrate large datasets into the research ecosystem via the resource platform. Responsibilities Integrate large datasets into the research ecosystem via the resource platform Rationalize and integrate the Analytical Work Bench with internally developed applications Contribute to the development of a Jupyter Lab-based integrated development environment Qualifications Required Proven experience working with cloud-based technologies, specifically AWS Solid expertise in Big Data solutions utilizing AWS EMR Advanced proficiency in Python Core and PySpark, with over 8 years of hands-on experience Practical knowledge of Pylint and Pytest for code quality and testing, with at least two years of experience Extensive experience with package management and automation tools such as PyPI and Gulp for over five years Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using Jenkins and Urban Code, with more than two years of experience Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate with end users to gather and discuss complex business requirements Preferred University degree in Engineering or Computer Science UI development with React Experience working with Jupyter Lab Data Engineering and/or Data Science experience
