JOB SUMMARY & SCOPE
Responsible for serving as the organization's highest level of technical leadership, the Principal Solutions Architect provides visionary guidance, solves the most complex and high‑impact technical challenges, and shapes long‑term solution and technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy. This role influences enterprise‑wide architectural decisions, mentors senior engineering and architecture leaders, establishes best practices across solution design and integration, and represents the company in key technical forums, standards bodies, and strategic partnerships.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Serve as the organization's foremost technical authority, providing strategic and architectural guidance across critical solutions and engineering domains. Lead the development of long‑term technology strategies, architectural roadmaps, and innovation initiatives aligned with business objectives. Drive resolution of the most complex, high‑risk technical challenges with significant enterprise and customer impact. Evaluate emerging technologies and guide decisions related to adoption, integration, and long‑term investment. Advise executive leadership on technical risks, opportunities, trade‑offs, and strategic direction. Establish and influence enterprise‑wide architecture standards, engineering best practices, and technical governance. Provide technical oversight for flagship and high‑visibility programs to ensure scalability, performance, reliability, and quality. Lead technical design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analyses for complex systems and integrations. Direct cross‑functional technical teams during high‑priority initiatives, escalations, or critical incidents. Mentor principal engineers, senior engineers, and architects to develop future technical leaders. Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across engineering teams. Support recruitment, evaluation, and development of top‑tier engineering and architecture talent. Represent the company in industry consortia, standards bodies, and strategic technical forums. Contribute to thought leadership through publications, patents, technical presentations, or conference keynotes. Build and maintain strategic relationships with technology partners, suppliers, research institutions, and universities.
EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE + KEY TRAITS
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in engineering, applied science, computer science, or a closely related technical field. 20+ years of progressive engineering or architecture experience with a demonstrated record of significant technical leadership and major accomplishments. Recognized industry expert with meaningful contributions such as patents, publications, standards development, or widely adopted technical innovations. Proven ability to influence executive leadership and enterprise‑level strategy through technical insight, judgment, and credibility. Extensive experience providing architectural and technical leadership for large‑scale, complex, or mission‑critical systems. Strong strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate technology trends and balance innovation, risk, scalability, and business impact. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts for executive, technical, and non‑technical audiences. Demonstrated leadership capability in mentoring senior engineers and architects and developing future technical leaders. Experience leading major engineering programs, platforms, or research initiatives preferred. Prior participation in national or international standards bodies, industry consortia, or technical advisory groups preferred.
