Application Engineer (SolidWorks) Michigan Center, MI Full-Time | In-Office with Occasional Travel $65,000-$70,000 Base Salary (DOE) About the Opportunity Were partnering with a Michigan-based leader in machinery installation, vibration isolation, and equipment anchoring products to find their next Application Engineer. Their products are used in power generation, machine tools, manufacturing, testing, medical, and other industries. This team is close-knit, with direct access to leadership and a lot of room to grow. They want a CAD-strong engineer who enjoys working with people as much as solving technical problems. The Role Our client is looking for an Application Engineer with a strong SolidWorks background to support customers, consulting engineers, and field sales in applying the companys products to real-world installations. This is a CAD-heavy role. Youll create detailed part, assembly, and fabrication drawings every day, including complex steel fabrications for steam and gas turbine generator projects. Its also a people-facing role. Youll talk with customers and sales reps regularly, help train the sales team, and occasionally travel to customer and project sites. Youll report to the Senior Application Engineer and work closely with project managers, customer service, fabrication shops, and leadership. Responsibilities Handle incoming calls and emails from customers and field sales requesting technical assistance Provide engineering support for the application of the companys products and prepare written product proposals Use SolidWorks to create detailed kit and fabrication drawings for power generation equipment installations, including base frames, soleplates, chock and shim assemblies, anchor bolt layouts, and related structural components Apply GD&T to detail drawings to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability, and manage revisions as designs move through quoting and ordering Coordinate with fabrication shops to confirm drawings are shop-ready and resolve fit-up, tolerancing, or weldment questions Produce drawings that support quotations for manufacturing, purchasing, and customers Create and maintain product detail drawings, drawing standards, and document control procedures Maintain specifications and literature for company and competitive product lines Help establish quality control standards for company products Help train sales personnel, both in-house and in the field Help prepare and review product data sheets, brochures, catalogs, and other sales materials Travel occasionally to customer and project sites as needed Participate in project meetings and help evaluate potential new products What Our Client Is Looking For Bachelors degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical 3+ years of engineering experience. Entry-level candidates with strong training or education will also be considered SolidWorks proficiency required, including daily creation of part, assembly, and fabrication drawings Solid understanding of GD&T and the ability to apply it to detail drawings Ability to interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and technical documents Experience in power generation, machinery installation, vibration isolation, or manufacturing preferred General knowledge of machinery installation and construction practices a plus A true people person who is comfortable working directly with customers, sales reps, and fabrication shops Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Willingness to travel occasionally to customer and project sites Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and time-management skills A proactive problem-solver who can work creatively with limited information and anticipate issues before they come up Schedule Monday-Friday, standard business hours Occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines Office-based, with occasional travel to customer and project sites Compensation & Benefits $65,000-$70,000 base salary, depending on experience Lots of growth opportunity within the company Direct access to leadership on a close-knit team Opportunity to build a long-term career with a specialized, well-established company
