Infotainment Software Development Engineer Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an experienced engineer to join the Production Application Team of the Infotainment Software Department, which undertakes various innovation projects related to infotainment and UI/UX systems software development efforts concerning the next generation of vehicle software architecture for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, as well as the production application of software features and service contents
What You Will Do:
Plan and design automotive infotainment features and define engineering specsOwn feature delivery from requirements through implementation, integration, validation, and release readiness (including defect triage)Develop request for quote (RFQ) documentation, define acceptance criteria, and lead supplier vettingOrganize, plan, and execute infotainment projects, utilizing Agile software development and traditional automotive quality processes, such as V-Model and ASPICELead cross-functional system integration across internal teams and suppliers, including interface definition and integration readinessLead and mentor software development peers through technical direction, design reviews, and code reviewsDrive stakeholder communication and alignment around project status, risks, and deliverablesEnsure deployment and adherence to state-of-the-art DevOps processes, including CI/CD and automated quality gates (where applicable)Define target validation levels and quality metrics for the project, including requirements-to-test traceability expectationsSupport production and field issue resolution using logs, traces, and root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions through releasesCollaborate with internal/external project partners, such as content providers, prototyping services, university labs, and tech suppliersConduct competitor system benchmarking, industry technology sensing, and trend analysisTravel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally What You Will Bring to the

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, or a related discipline3+ years of professional experience in automotive or IT-embedded product development3+ years of professional experience in the automotive infotainment fieldUnderstanding of engineering spec definition: SRS, SAD, SDD, and WireframeFamiliarity with automotive infotainment operating systems: AAOS, Linux, and QNXProficiency in at least one of the following languages: C++, Java, or KotlinExperience with Android/AAOS development and debugging tools: Android Studio, adb, logcat, and dumpsysExperience diagnosing Android/AAOS performance and stability issues using system diagnostics and traces (e.g., bugreport, Perfetto/Systrace, etc.)Experience with HMI development technologies: Android Studio, QT, Kanzi, Altia, and DistiUnderstanding of embedded software fundamentals, including multithreading, IPC, and performance constraints on target hardwareAbility to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExcellenttime management, self-management, and organization skillsAn ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelinesStrong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skillsGood communication skills and an ability to develop/maintain positive relationships with tech experts from the R D Center and internal counterpart teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in computer engineering, computer science, human-computer interaction, human factors, industrial design, industrial engineering, or a related disciplineExperience with common software frameworks: Wayland, OpenglES, Android meta-EGL, LVGL, OpenVG, Vulkan, and VirtFamiliarity with AAOS architecture concepts (e.g., system services, privileged apps, and vehicle property access patterns)Experience with Git-based workflows, branch/release management practices, and code review processesExperience creating and maintaining automated test strategies (unit, integration, and system-level) integrated with CIExperience with 3D development frameworks: Unity, Unreal Engine, and Silicon StudioExperience in debugging embedded devices and optimizing system performanceExperience in production software lifecycle: requirements, system design, development, maintenance, and release readiness for embedded software for vehicle systemsExperience writing technical RFQs, evaluating supplier proposals, and managing deliverables/acceptance criteria through integrationWorking knowledge of vehicle communication network systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.) and instrumentation/operation of data acquisition systems, such as ETAS/INCA and Vector/CANoeFamiliarity with secure development practices and vulnerability triage for embedded/connected productsUnderstanding of modern techniques in at least one of the following fields: machine learning, deep neural networks, natural language processing, or voice/speech recognitionKnowledge in Agile, Waterfall, DevOps development processes and tools, such as
