Job Description

Are you an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and learning new technologies? At Extol, Applications Engineers work on a wide variety of projects across numerous industries, helping customers determine the best solutions for their assembly and joining challenges. This role offers the opportunity to develop deep technical expertise in plastic joining technologies while collaborating with customers, sales, and engineering teams to bring innovative solutions to life. Extol, Inc. is looking for a curious, collaborative, and detail-oriented Applications Engineer! This position is responsible for evaluating customer applications, conducting feasibility studies, developing manufacturing processes, and providing technical expertise to support both customers and Extol's sales efforts. Strong candidates will demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a passion for continuous learning. The Ideal Candidate Evaluates customer applications and conducts feasibility studies to determine the best joining technology, process parameters, and manufacturing approach. Builds strong customer relationships by providing technical guidance, training, and support throughout the evaluation process. Develops and executes testing plans including material testing, process development, and validation activities to support customer projects. Maintains thorough documentation and technical reports to clearly communicate results, recommendations, and next steps. Collaborates closely with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative solutions for customer challenges. Thrives in a team-oriented environment while embracing ambiguity, learning new technologies, and solving complex problems. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related science discipline. 1-2 years of hands-on technical experience (internships and co-op experience considered). Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to perform engineering calculations and analysis. Ability to use design software, preferably SolidWorks, to review and create basic drawings and models. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers and internal teams. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
