The Opportunity As an Application Development Intern, you will join APi Group's Information Technology team and work in a collaborative development team to solve an identified business need. You will partner with business stakeholders and IT leaders throughout the application development life cycle: from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, delivery, and presentation. This internship provides practical experience building enterprise applications using the OutSystems low-code development platform. What You'll Do Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand challenges, user needs, workflows, and desired outcomes. Participate in requirements-gathering sessions and translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements. Help design application workflows, user experiences, data structures, and solution features that balance user needs, business value, and technical feasibility. Design and build an enterprise application using the OutSystems low-code development platform. Develop and configure application screens, workflows, business logic, integrations, and data components appropriate to the assigned solution. Test application functionality, document and help resolve defects, and incorporate feedback from users and project mentors. Work collaboratively within a development team; participate in planning, progress updates, demonstrations, stakeholder reviews, and feedback sessions. Maintain project documentation, including requirements, decisions, test results, user guidance, and recommended next steps. Participate in a friendly innovation challenge between intern development teams and communicate the solution's business value and future opportunities. Present the completed solution, development approach, business impact, and lessons learned to APi Group business and IT leaders. What You'll Bring Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technology field. Strong interest in software development, application design, and solving business problems through technology. Basic understanding of programming concepts, logic, and data structures. Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to work directly with business stakeholders. Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to learn new technologies in a collaborative environment. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with web application development concepts and practices. Experience working with databases, data models, or SQL. Exposure to OutSystems or another low-code/no-code development platform. Experience working on team-based technical, academic, or personal development projects. Ability to organize work, incorporate feedback, and communicate technical concepts clearly to nontechnical audiences. What You'll Learn Practical experience across the software development life cycle, including discovery, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and delivery. Enterprise application development using the OutSystems low-code development platform. How technology teams partner with business stakeholders to address real operational challenges. Application design, programming logic, data management, quality assurance, project delivery, and user-centered problem solving. Technical presentation, stakeholder management, teamwork, and professional communication skills through mentorship and feedback from APi Group IT leaders and business partners.
