Job Description Applications Engineer 1801 Theurer Blvd, Winona, MN 55987 HEADA Full-time Shift(s):
MON TUE WED THU FRI 8
00am - 5:00pm
OVERVIEW
Working as Full-time Applications Engineer, you will work directly with our global customer base on new or existing product designs, fastener consolidation, standardization projects (reverse engineering, teardowns, production line, reviews, etc.), failure analysis, and customer specified and industry standard testing. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: o Providing technical support on fasteners and fastening to our customers and sales team o Overseeing and conducting failure analysis and testing of fastener and other metal components o Interpreting metallurgical and failure analysis results and provide solution recommendations for multifunctional teams o Sampling and testing of product in an A2LA Accredited Laboratory o Revising and troubleshooting fastener applications o Analyzing fastener failure o Establishing and complying with project timelines o Performing in house testing to prove design features
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position: o Possess a current full valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed o Possess a bachelor's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy or a related field of study o Excellent written and oral communication skills o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities o Work independently as well as in a team environment o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment o Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork o Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbs o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
o Possess prior work experience in the Fastener industry o Experience scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy o Knowledge of fractography (metals) and material failure mechanisms o Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and mitigation o Knowledge of deformation processes of steel o Knowledge of heat treatment fundamentals and techniques for metals.

FULL-TIME BENEFITS
Fastenal offers a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees. This package includes Health, Life, Long Term Disability, and Dental Insurance, in addition to, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and 401(k) with an employer contribution.
COMPENSATION
The base pay range for this position is $60,000 - 90,000. In addition to base pay, this position is also eligible for a bonus and/or commission.
