Louis, Missouri research facilities Full-time onsite presence required Initial 6-month assignment with potential for extension Overview This opportunity supports a leading global agriculture research and technology organization advancing seed production innovation and product supply. The Senior Software Engineer will develop software solutions for automated laboratory and industrial systems, integrating instrumentation, robotics, machine vision, data acquisition, and enterprise platforms to improve research and operational efficiency, quality, and scalability. Must-Have Domains Industrial & Laboratory Automation Robotics, Machine Vision & Instrument Integration Automation Software Engineering Core Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain software for automated laboratory, engineering, and industrial systems. Develop applications using C#, MATLAB, Python, C++, or related technologies to support research, testing, and operational workflows. Integrate software with instrumentation, sensors, cameras, robotics, motion-control platforms, databases, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications. Develop and support machine vision and image-processing applications while troubleshooting complex software, hardware, and system-integration issues. Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians to define requirements, document solutions, and deliver reliable software using version control, testing, cybersecurity, and code-review best practices. Must-Have Experience 5+ years of software development experience supporting automation, industrial, scientific, laboratory, or engineering systems. Hands-on experience integrating software with hardware, including instrumentation, sensors, machine vision, robotics, and/or industrial control platforms. Demonstrated experience with industrial automation architectures, control systems, communication protocols, software testing, source control, and complex system troubleshooting. Top 5 Must-Have Technical Skills C#, MATLAB, Python and/or C++ Robotics & Motion Control Integration Machine Vision & Image Processing Instrumentation, Sensors & Hardware Integration Industrial Automation & Control Systems Education Bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
