Job Description

SUMMARY The Business Applications Developer designs, develops, and maintains internal business applications that support operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making at Wallis Companies. This role focuses on the execution and support of electronic forms, workflows, and SharePoint-based solutions, working closely with business users, IT leadership, and external development partners. The position emphasizes hands-on configuration, application maintenance, and technical coordination to ensure business applications are reliable, secure, and aligned with approved business processes. The role also evaluates and applies automation and AI-enabled approaches when they can safely and effectively improve business processes, solution delivery, or decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY
(bolded text denotes an essential function of the position) Business Results Orientation Design, develop, and maintain internal business applications, electronic forms, and workflows using platforms such as SharePoint Online, Microsoft Power Platform tools including Power Apps and Power Automate, Laserfiche, and Qdabra FormsViewer. Implement enhancements and updates to existing solutions based on approved business requirements. Support operational efficiency by automating data collection and process workflows. Evaluate traditional, automation-based, and AI-enabled approaches to business problems, recommending and implementing solutions that are practical, secure, aligned with approved business requirements, and consistent with company data privacy, security, and responsible-use standards. Identify application issues, inefficiencies, or technical debt and recommend improvements. Assist in estimating effort and technical feasibility for application changes or enhancements. Develop system enhancements, workflows, integrations, reports and dashboards to improve business performance Prioritize work effectively while managing multiple projects and support requests. Communication Work directly with business users to clarify requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Act as a technical point of contact for application-related questions and troubleshooting. Act as a technical liaison with external developers and website consultants to support implementation, testing, and issue resolution for approved business applications and web solutions. Communicate application changes, impacts, and limitations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Escalate development scope, prioritization, and vendor performance concerns to IT leadership as appropriate. Build strong working relationships with business leaders, end users, vendors, and IT team members. Develop clear technical documentation and end-user procedures. Technical Expertise Configure and develop business applications across platforms including SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Power Platform, Laserfiche, Qdabra FormsViewer, and related business application tools. Build and maintain forms logic, workflows, validations, calculations, and integrations. Create and support SharePoint lists, libraries, views, metadata, and permissions in support of business applications. Design and maintain databases and data structures that support business applications, forms, and workflows. Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL queries, views, and stored procedures used by business applications and reporting solutions. Support application testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and controlled deployment to production environments. Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting complex application issues. Use approved generative AI and AI-assisted development tools to support requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting, while independently validating outputs before use. Customer Service Orientation Provide responsive and professional support for business applications developed or maintained within this role. Partner with users to resolve issues and implement practical, user-friendly solutions. Support adoption of new or updated applications through solution-specific guidance and follow-up. Demonstrate empathy and accountability when responding to user concerns or application issues. Maintains a service-oriented approach while balancing business priorities and technical requirements. Developing Talent Participate in cross-training and knowledge-sharing activities within the IT team. Contribute to documentation and knowledge transfer to support continuity and succession planning. Share technical expertise and best practices with peers as needed. Actively participates in professional development to maintain current technical knowledge and industry best practices. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred. Equivalent education, training, certifications, or experience may be considered.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience developing, configuring, or supporting business applications, electronic forms, workflows, or SharePoint-based solutions in an enterprise environment. Experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate, SQL, Laserfiche, Qdabra FormsViewer, or similar platforms preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
Skills and Abilities:
(May be representative but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with the position) Strong technical knowledge of SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Power Platform tools, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate. Demonstrated working knowledge of generative AI and AI-assisted productivity or development tools, including effective prompting, output validation, recognition of data privacy and security risks, and determination of when an AI-enabled approach is appropriate. Experience developing and supporting electronic forms, workflows, validations, and automated processes. Experience with or demonstrated ability to quickly learn platforms such as Laserfiche and Qdabra FormsViewer. Working knowledge of SQL concepts, including queries, views, and basic stored procedures used to support applications and reporting. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to lead small project teams or technical workstreams and manage multiple projects and support priorities simultaneously.

Certifications consistent with the Wallis Companies IT Tech Level Matrix are preferred and contribute to advancement. Examples include Microsoft Power Platform (PL-series), Microsoft Azure fundamentals, Laserfiche certifications, or equivalent technical credentials. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and applied experience may be considered. Valid driver's license required.
