Apigee Development Engineer

Job Summary:

The Apigee Development Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade API solutions using Apigee Edge or Apigee X. This role focuses on end-to-end API lifecycle management, secure integrations, and scalable API architecture. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in API development, security implementation, and DevOps practices to support high-performance enterprise API ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement API proxies and shared flows using Apigee Edge or Apigee X Develop RESTful APIs aligned with enterprise architecture and business requirements Manage full API lifecycle including design, versioning, publishing, and retirement Implement API security using OAuth2, JWT, API keys, TLS/mTLS Collaborate with backend teams to expose services through secure APIs Troubleshoot integration issues related to network flows, authentication, and backend services Monitor and optimize API performance, caching, and traffic management Support CI/CD pipelines for API build, testing, and deployment across environments Use tools like Git, Jenkins, and Maven for build automation and version control Contribute to governance workflows and reusable API frameworks

Required Skills:

8+ years of experience with Apigee Edge, Apigee X, or Apigee Hybrid Strong expertise in API proxy development, shared flows, and custom policies Proficiency in RESTful API design and

JSON/XML

transformations Experience with API testing and debugging tools (Postman, Splunk) Programming experience in JavaScript, Java, Python, or Node.js Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Strong understanding of API security protocols (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS) Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Skills:

Apigee Certification (Edge or X) Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Knowledge of microservices architecture, Kubernetes, Docker, or service mesh Experience building enterprise-scale API platforms and governance frameworks

Certifications:

Apigee Certification preferred

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
