THE JOB:

The Senior Software Engineer II is a key technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable, production-ready software that drives exceptional customer experiences. This role spans the full software development lifecycle—from vision and planning through execution, deployment, and long-term sustainment—ensuring innovation, performance, and reliability in every solution. In addition to hands-on development, the role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and continuously improving engineering practices to align with evolving business and technology goals.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

Develop and deliver production-grade software across the full development lifecycle, from vision and planning to deployment and sustainment. Collaborate with Product Management and cross-functional teams to create intuitive, high-quality customer experiences. Drive platform performance by evaluating and implementing new technologies and engineering best practices. Ensure service consistency, reliability, supportability, and observability across systems. Communicate effectively to align teams, resolve challenges, and foster collaboration across organizational levels. Build trust and influence by modeling MGM's mission and values while developing strong relationships throughout the organization.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Over 8 years of experience delivering scalable, production-grade cloud and backend software solutions across enterprise and internet-scale environments, with a strong emphasis on full-stack development. Proficient in object-oriented programming using Java (and/or C++, similar languages), with hands-on experience across both UI and backend layers—including service, data, and communication components. Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis. Experienced in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), DevOps practices, and distributed team collaboration within a continuous delivery environment. Skilled in applying software engineering best practices throughout the full development lifecycle, including code reviews, version control, testing, and deployment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset; capable of working across business and technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
