An established, employee-owned engineering and technology company is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join its team in the Utica or Syracuse, NY area. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to advanced engineering and research initiatives supporting government and commercial customers. The successful candidate will be involved throughout the software development life cycle, including research, design, development, testing, evaluation, delivery, and documentation. Project areas may include high-performance computing, modeling and simulation, sensor systems, software tools, data visualization, and real-time embedded processing. The ideal candidate can work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary engineering team. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus. At least 5 years of professional software development experience. Proficiency in one or more programming languages, preferably C/C++ or Java; Python experience is also desirable. Knowledge of object-oriented design and multithreaded programming is preferred. Strong communication, technical documentation, and teamwork skills. Ability to work onsite in Syracuse or Utica, NY, with frequent support at a customer facility in Rome, NY. Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed. Active TS/SCI security clearance is preferred. Candidates without an active clearance must be U.S. citizens eligible to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
