Position Objective/DUTIES:
Position entails higher responsibility for engineering drawing and technical documentation support, including preparation of CAD/CAE models, detail and assembly drawings, design layouts, tolerance application, and corresponding Bills of Material and EN's for new and modified products. This position may include responsibility of technological analysis, priority planning, problem solving, and delivery of quality design outputsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the responsibility of each Senior Design Engineer to:- Establish and document component and assembly specifications including definition of required geometry, materials, allowable tolerances, and related manufacturing processes.
- Apply basic and advanced mechanical sciences to perform design analysis of products and components, including static/dynamic analysis, strength of materials, material selection and design optimization.
- Support project teams to develop and document designs and specifications that meet the requirements of the product specifications and program charter.
- Create and verify accuracy and consistency of engineering drawings and Cad/CAE models in accordance with corporate engineering standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance requirements.
- Verify design intent by checking proper fit-up of components using CAD and tolerance stack-up analysis methods.
- Create Advanced design layouts of compressor assemblies, sub-systems, and components to establish spatial requirements, and fit-up and relationship of components to ensure functionality of design intent
- Produce and utilize engineering calculations and operate computer programs to support design analysis and engineering efforts including spreadsheets and internet resources.
- Produce and maintain accurate design records in accordance with specific project requirements using accepted corporate methods and Design Standards, including engineering notices, bills of materials, specifications and related documentation.
- Provide support to engineering labs, manufacturing facilities, supplier quality, procurement, and advanced manufacturing.
REQUIRED
EDUCATION and experience: Four Year Engineering degree plus 2-5 years work experience in related drafting and mechanical design and/or manufacturing industry, or equivalentREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
