Job Description
We have partnered with our client in their search for a Java AWS Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity in Columbus, OH. Responsibilities Define and evolve target-state architecture for debit and payments services using modern distributed-systems patterns Lead domain-level technical ownership across multiple services, ensuring high availability, low latency, and operational excellence Drive modernization initiatives, including platform upgrades and decomposition efforts, with clear risk management and rollback plans Establish and enforce API governance, schema/versioning practices, and engineering standards through design reviews and reference implementations Improve reliability through service level indicators/service level objectives, runbooks, post-incident learning, and capacity planning Build and mature observability practices, including distributed tracing and metrics that cover synchronous and asynchronous workflows Partner with security, risk, and compliance stakeholders to ensure secure engineering practices and audit-ready controls Standardize event streaming and messaging practices, including idempotency, retry strategies, and dead-letter queue handling Mentor and coach senior and lead engineers, strengthening engineering practices across squads Communicate technical strategy, tradeoffs, and delivery plans to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners Skills Required Java AWS Kafka Experience using AI for development Experience supporting debit, payments, or other high-volume transaction platforms in regulated environment is a plus Education & Work Experience Bachelor's Degree 5+ years of experience Title Java AWS Engineer Location Columbus, OH Client Industry FinTech Compensation $55-75/hr About Korn Ferry Korn Ferry unleashes potential in people, teams, and organizations.
