In this role, you will help test, evaluate, and optimize garage door systems to meet market requirements, industry standards, and cost-efficiency goals. You will contribute to the development of new wind load packages, support regulatory compliance, create detailed CAD drawings, conduct component testing, and provide technical support for product development, installation, and custom applications.

Our Applications Engineering Technician Responsibilities:
Test garage doors to meet
ANSI/DASMA 108
standards and develop new wind load packages for windstorm-prone markets. Evaluate door systems, components, and labeling to ensure compliance with DASMA industry standards and mitigate liability risks. Identify cost-saving opportunities by evaluating deflection requirements, minimum strut counts, track gauges, and other structural elements. Perform Value Assessment/Value Engineering (VA/VE) of component parts to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Develop CAD drawings for track assemblies, custom lift applications, and job shop drawings. Provide technical drawings to support production, installation, and custom project requirements. Support field installation teams with technical challenges and complex or custom applications. Troubleshoot field issues and develop corrective measures as needed. Collaborate on the design, development, and testing of new products and components. Test components and verify supplier quality to ensure performance, safety, reliability, and compliance. Manage the location's spring configuration, specifications, and quality. Perform other duties as assigned. The Qualifications and Skills We Are Looking for in our
Applications Engineering Technician:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in garage door systems, building products, or similar industries. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar. Strong understanding of DASMA standards, ANSI testing protocols, and wind load requirements. Experience with Value Engineering, cost analysis, and product optimization. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills. Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and field support. Requirements and Skills Previous experience managing technical teams or projects. Familiarity with supplier verification processes and quality assurance testing. Hands-on experience with custom lift applications and complex installations. Combination of office, lab/testing facility, and field-based work. Occasional travel to supplier locations, job sites, or customer facilities. Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing ladders and stairs. Frequent lifting of items weighing 20 to 75 pounds.
