Job Description
Expected projects include:
Connecting to multiple QuickBooks entities through APIs Mapping different charts of accounts into standardized reporting categories Consolidating financial information across related companies, trusts and other entities Producing management reports, dashboards and drill-down reporting Identifying intercompany differences and unreconciled activity Automating cash, debt, distribution, contribution and capital-activity reporting Creating exception reports that identify missing, unusual or potentially misclassified transactions Developing secure workflow and review tools that reduce manual spreadsheet work Over time, the role will help us build a broader Family Enterprise operating platform.Potential areas include:
Family governance, committee and decision-management workflows Family Constitution implementation and administration Trust, entity, ownership and fiduciary information Trust requirements, distributions and recurring responsibilities Investment Policy Statement and capital-allocation monitoring Operating-business and transaction reporting Private foundation and philanthropic administration Cashiering, account transfers and approval workflows Bill-pay administration and controls Insurance and specialized-asset oversight Advisor coordination, document management and recurring client deliverables The goal is not to create one large application immediately. The successful candidate will build useful tools incrementally, beginning with clearly defined workflows and expanding the platform over time. How You Will Work You will work closely with professionals who understand the accounting, governance and advisory requirements but are not software developers. You will observe how work is currently performed, ask questions, identify the underlying business rules and translate those requirements into working applications. We expect you to use modern AI development tools—including Claude, OpenAI, Codex or similar platforms—to accelerate coding, testing, documentation and troubleshooting. AI-assisted development is encouraged, but you must be able to understand, test, secure and maintain the resulting code. The right person will be comfortable moving between business conversations and technical execution. You should be able to take an idea from a whiteboard discussion through prototype, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement. Responsibilities Design, build, test and maintain internal web applications Translate accounting, reporting, governance and operational workflows into software Integrate applications with QuickBooks and other financial-data systems Build and maintain databases, account mappings, business rules and workflow logic Create clear, intuitive interfaces for accounting and advisory professionals Develop automated data-validation and exception-reporting procedures Implement appropriate review, approval and audit-trail functionality Maintain source code, version history and technical documentation in GitHub Manage application deployment, monitoring, backups and recovery Establish automated testing and quality-control procedures Implement authentication, role-based permissions and client-data separation Protect highly confidential personal and financial information Evaluate new AI tools and determine where they can responsibly improve our work Support and continuously improve applications after they are deployed Qualifications Experience building and deploying full-stack web applications Proficiency with a modern front-end framework and at least one back-end programming language Experience working with APIs, SQL databases and cloud-hosted applications Familiarity with GitHub and standard source-control practices Experience using AI coding tools as part of a professional development workflow Ability to understand and maintain AI-generated code Ability to turn an imprecise business need into a defined, testable application Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and data accuracy Ability to communicate clearly with accounting, advisory and business professionals Sound judgment when handling confidential client information Interest in building systems iteratively and supporting them over time Experience with QuickBooks Online APIs, Python, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Supabase, Railway, Cloudflare or comparable technologies is helpful but not required. Experience in accounting, financial services, family offices, wealth management or workflow automation is also helpful but not required. We care more about the ability to learn complex workflows, ask thoughtful questions and build reliable solutions than about experience in any single industry. What Success Looks Like Within the first year, the successful candidate will have: Established a secure and maintainable foundation for our internal applications Built and deployed at least one significant financial or operational workflow Reduced manual data preparation and spreadsheet manipulation Created repeatable account-mapping and multi-entity reporting capabilities Developed reliable testing, documentation and deployment procedures Implemented appropriate access controls, audit trails and data protections Built strong working relationships with our Family Enterprise team Developed a prioritized roadmap for additional Family Enterprise applications About the Role This is a full-time position with meaningful ownership over what is built and how the platform develops. It is best suited for someone who enjoys working directly with business users, building quickly, testing carefully and seeing their work become part of an organization's daily operations. Because the role involves close collaboration and highly confidential client information, in-office presence is expected.Compensation Package:
