Responsibilities What you get to do: Join a tech company that makes solutions and products that directly protect and save lives of firefighters and industrial workers around the world every day, as well as the environment. Apply your technical capabilities and ability to influence direction and decision-making as you work with a variety of technology stacks and product types with highly engaged team members with different skillsets, backgrounds, roles Firefighter equipment, gas detectors and industrial worker gear with various sensor technologies (e.g. thermal imaging, environmental sensing, location, infrared/lasers). IoT style ecosystem of physical/digital products with wireless and wired connectivity (e.g. AWS, cellular, GNSS, BLE). Safety critical software (SIL, security). Own architectures, own quality of delivery, own the translation of the "why" behind internal/external customer needs into elegant, robust, timely technical solutions. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Technical leadership demonstrated by influencing system architecture and product decisions through technical analysis, data, experimentation, and clear communication. Strong proficiency in real-time embedded systems/software. Curiosity and ability to rapidly dive into unfamiliar technical domains, build sufficient expertise, and apply that knowledge to support critical thinking and sound engineering decisions. Skilled in distilling deeply technical information down to its essence and packaging to gain buy-in for project or solution direction (written and verbal). Able to challenge assumptions constructively and build alignment around technically sound approaches and software architecture that meet the business need. Adaptable mindset that thrives within business, project or technology ambiguity or constraints. Agility and creativity in the face of complex challenges to quickly understand trade-offs and get to best result for the product, for the team, for the company. Track record of delivering solutions for complex embedded software-based systems that support both near-term product objectives and longer-term platform strategy, while promoting practices that improve the quality, robustness, and efficiency of embedded software development.
Preferred:
Experience/training in identifying and experimenting with generative AI/ML technologies and approaches and applying in targeted ways to embedded software workflows/development process for maximum measurable impact. Firmware cybersecurity training/expertise for evaluating security risks and architectural approaches, including secure boot, trusted execution, authentication, authorization, encryption, key management, secure communications, software update mechanisms, and protection of sensitive assets.
Education and Experience Required:
BSCE, BSEE or relevant technical discipline, preferably from an ABET or similarly accredited program. This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience and education:
Principal I:
9 years of relevant industry experience minimum.
Principal II:
12 years of relevant industry experience minimum.
