Position Overview The Performance Engineer will be a core member of our data and analytics team, responsible for developing scalable programs, analytics pipelines, and automated reporting services that maximize the value of solar and battery storage assets. You will work with data housed in a central repository to extract, transform, and load clean datasets into reporting and analytics environments — then turn those insights into actionable metrics used by field technicians, asset managers, and customers to understand and improve asset health. Key Responsibilities Apply advanced statistical analysis and data mining techniques to proactively detect problems through anomaly detection and pattern recognition. Maintain and continuously improve internal solar performance models used for lost energy calculations, soiling analytics, forecasting, and early failure detection. Perform root cause analysis on underperforming solar facilities, including gathering, filtering, and cleaning noisy or incomplete datasets. Translate findings into alarms, automated alerts, and reporting tags within the data environment to support field and operations teams. Design and implement a scalable data management and retention strategy aligned with asset life cycles. Build and maintain scalable reporting services for internal stakeholders and external customers. Experience Required 2+ years in applied computer science or engineering (research experience considered) Proficiency in Python or R Hands-on experience with Power BI Foundational understanding of engineering principles Experience in software development and code base maintenance within small team environments Preferred 2+ years of experience in machine learning and data mining Familiarity with OSIsoft PI systems SQL proficiency Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Physics Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics is a strong plus Core Competencies Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams while maintaining quality and schedule Self-directed problem solver who can work both independently and collaboratively Clear and accurate communicator — in writing, documentation, and verbally Creative thinker capable of developing novel solutions for problems without a well-defined path forward
