JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Applications Engineer provides technical and engineering support to the Existing Applications Engineering team throughout the design, estimating, implementation, and support phases of physical security projects. This is an entry-level engineering position intended for individuals looking to build a career in physical security systems, enterprise networking, and IT server infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist with project documentation, system design, equipment selection, estimating, programming preparation, and technical troubleshooting while learning industry best practices from Existing engineers. The Junior Applications Engineer will work closely with Sales, Project Managers, Field Technicians, Manufacturers, and Existing Engineers to help deliver high-quality security solutions for commercial customers. This position offers hands-on experience with enterprise access control systems, IP video surveillance, intercom systems, structured cabling, networking equipment, Windows Server environments, virtualization, and cybersecurity best practices. The ideal candidate is technically curious, organized, eager to learn new technologies, and enjoys solving technical problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist Existing Applications Engineers with the design and estimating of physical security systems. Review customer specifications, drawings, and scopes of work to assist with equipment selection and project budgeting. Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs), equipment lists, and engineering documentation. Assist with the preparation of project estimates, proposals, and change orders. Help develop network diagrams, IP addressing plans, rack elevations, and system architecture documentation. Assist in configuring and staging security hardware prior to installation. Support the programming and commissioning of: Access Control Systems Video Management Systems (VMS) IP Cameras Video Intercom Systems Intrusion Detection Systems Network Switches IP-based Security Devices Provide remote technical support to field technicians under the guidance of Existing Engineers. Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and server-related issues. Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and customer communications. Learn manufacturer software and programming tools for various security platforms. Coordinate with manufacturers for technical support and product information. Participate in site surveys and assist with documenting existing conditions. Review architectural, electrical, and security drawings. Assist in developing installation requirements and project documentation. Help maintain engineering standards, templates, and documentation libraries. Work closely with Project Managers to ensure engineering deliverables are completed on schedule. Participate in internal engineering meetings and project reviews. Continue developing knowledge of physical security systems, enterprise networking, Windows Server environments, virtualization, and cybersecurity best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
