Position Overview We are seeking an Application Engineer to support our estimating and project development team and Service Department. Working alongside our Senior Application Engineer, you'll be involved across the full quoting lifecycle — from walking a site and scoping a generator installation, to building competitive bid packages, to serving as the single point of contact that keeps repair projects moving. This is a role for an organized, technically-minded professional who is comfortable switching between field visits, detailed estimating work, and direct client communication. You'll grow your expertise under an experienced mentor while owning meaningful pieces of the business from day one.
Key Responsibilities Site Walks & Installation Quotes:
Support the Senior Application Engineer in conducting site walks and preparing quotes for residential and commercial generator installation projects.
RFP & Bid Packages:
Serve as a primary owner for responding to RFPs — assembling complete, competitive, and well-documented bid packages.
Maintenance Estimating:
Help scope and quote larger generator maintenance projects and service agreements.
Project Point of Contact:
Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for generator repair projects, coordinating between clients, technicians, and internal teams to keep work on track.
Business Development:
Conduct B2B cold outreach to generate new opportunities for generator sales and service.
Technical Documentation:
Prepare accurate scopes, pricing, and supporting documentation for proposals and projects.
Coordination:
Work closely with field technicians, sales, and management to ensure quotes reflect real-world conditions and projects are delivered on scope and on schedule.
Qualifications Technical Aptitude:
Solid understanding of mechanical or electrical systems, with the ability to interpret specifications and scope generator projects accurately. An engineering, technical, or trades background is a plus.
AI Proficiency:
Comfortable using AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to work more efficiently — drafting outreach, summarizing specs, speeding up documentation, and supporting estimating work. We actively embrace AI here and want someone who knows how to put it to work. Estimating /
Quoting:
Experience preparing quotes, estimates, bids, or RFP responses for technical, construction-related, or service work is strongly preferred.
Organizational Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple quotes, bids, and projects simultaneously.
Communication Skills:
Professional verbal and written communication for direct interaction with clients, technicians, and vendors — including comfort with proactive outreach.
Self-Motivation:
A proactive, ownership-minded approach; comfortable driving projects and outreach forward without being micromanaged.
Computer Proficiency:
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn service management software, estimating tools, and manufacturer databases.
Logistics:
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to client sites for walks and project coordination. Industry Experience (Preferred): Prior experience in power generation, machinery, HVAC, electrical, or a related mechanical or construction industry.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
