About the Role Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Applications Engineer to support the deployment and customer adoption of PRESTO, our fully automated robotic solution for 3D metrology and dimensional inspection. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position involving metrology, robotics, automated systems, and advanced software tools. The role is primarily field-based across North America with occasional international travel depending on project needs. Job Responsibilities Technical Demonstrations and Sales Support Deliver on-site and virtual demonstrations of PRESTO robotic metrology systems. Design and execute Proof of Concepts tailored to customer workflows. Provide technical expertise during opportunity development. Support discussions around automation strategy and measurement validation. System Deployment and Automation Install, configure, and validate PRESTO robotic metrology cells. Develop automated inspection routines and optimize workflows. Integrate PRESTO with metrology software such as PC-DMIS and PolyWorks. Troubleshoot robotic, metrology, and software issues. Customer Training and Support Conduct structured training sessions for customers. Provide on-site and remote technical support. Perform dimensional analysis, correlation studies, and GR&R. Build long-term technical customer relationships. Cross-Functional Collaboration Communicate field feedback to Engineering and Product teams. Contribute to internal documentation and knowledge sharing. Support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field. Required Experience and Skills 6 months to 2 years of experience in metrology, robotics, or industrial automation. Strong understanding of 3D measurement principles, GD&T, and CMM fundamentals. Experience with metrology software such as PC-DMIS or PolyWorks. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to travel up to 70% across North America with occasional global travel. Preferred Qualifications Experience with robotic systems or automated inspection cells. Experience integrating metrology systems into production environments. Experience conducting dimensional studies and statistical reporting. Work Environment Frequent travel across North America with occasional global travel. Work performed at customer manufacturing facilities. Exposure to industrial environments and factory floors. May occasionally lift equipment components up to 30 pounds.
