This role combines full-stack software development, production support, database work, systems integration, process automation, reporting, and direct collaboration with business stakeholders. The successful candidate will take ownership of several existing production systems, including both modern Python-based applications and legacy platforms. They will be expected to understand business processes, troubleshoot operational issues, improve existing workflows, and develop new internal tools as business needs evolve. This is not a narrowly defined feature-development role. The developer will act as a technical owner for business-critical internal systems. Duties Maintain and enhance internal web applications built primarily with Python, Flask, JavaScript, Alpine.js, HTML, CSS, and Fomantic UI. Support and improve MySQL databases, SQL queries, stored data workflows, reporting queries, and application-level database integrations. Maintain integrations between internal applications and third-party or legacy systems.

Troubleshoot production issues involving applications, databases, APIs, background jobs, user permissions, data synchronization, and infrastructure. Develop internal tools and workflow automation to replace manual, spreadsheet-based, or repetitive processes. Maintain scheduled jobs, cron processes, batch scripts, webhooks, and data synchronization workflows. Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand operational processes, identify inefficiencies, and design practical technical solutions. Support systems used for enrollment, validation, negotiation, fee management, affiliate management, lead vendors, telemarketing, reporting, and workforce operations. Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across applications and connected systems.

Maintain and improve reporting solutions using SQL and business intelligence tools such as Metabase. Support deployment and production operations on Linux-based servers.

Use Git-based version control and participate in structured release and deployment processes. Document application architecture, integrations, database dependencies, deployment procedures, recurring jobs, and operational workflows. Gradually modernize legacy applications and reduce technical debt without disrupting critical business operations.

Provide technical support and guidance to internal users and management. Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional software development experience. Strong Python development experience. Experience building and maintaining applications using Flask or a comparable Python web framework. Strong working knowledge of MySQL and SQL.Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Experience troubleshooting and supporting production business applications. Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, file-based integrations, or third-party system integrations. Experience with Git and collaborative source-control workflows. Comfortable working in Linux environments and using command-line tools. Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into software solutions. Ability to independently investigate issues across application code, databases, integrations, and infrastructure. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple production systems and competing priorities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Alpine.js and Fomantic UI or similar lightweight frontend technologies. Experience with SQLAlchemy. Experience with Docker, Gunicorn, Nginx, Bash scripting, and cron. Experience with Metabase or another business intelligence platform. Experience maintaining or integrating with legacy systems. Experience migrating legacy automation or desktop workflows into Python-based solutions. Experience supporting financial services, debt management, call-center, enrollment, CRM, or lead-management systems. Experience with Cloudflare, internal Linux servers, VMware, or hybrid infrastructure. Familiarity with monitoring and error-tracking tools such as Sentry. Experience working in a small technical team or as the primary owner of internal systems. Methodical when troubleshooting production issues. Able to work with incomplete documentation and gradually improve it. Capable of balancing maintenance, support, modernization, and new development. Interested in understanding the business problem rather than only implementing technical requirements. Able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Practical and risk-aware when making changes to business-critical systems. Self-directed, organized, and dependable. Initial Priorities During the first several months, the developer will be expected to: Learn the existing application portfolio and business workflows. Review source code, databases, integrations, scheduled jobs, and deployment processes. Shadow the current developer during knowledge transfer. Document critical systems and operational dependencies. Take ownership of recurring support and maintenance tasks.

Resolve lower-risk issues independently. Gradually assume responsibility for production deployments, troubleshooting, and enhancements.

Identify major technical risks, undocumented dependencies, and modernization opportunities. Success Measures Success in this role will be measured by: Stability and reliability of internal production systems. Reduction in unresolved support issues. Successful ownership of deployments and recurring operational tasks. Accuracy and reliability of integrations and data synchronization. Quality of system documentation.

Reduction in manual business processes. Ability to deliver enhancements without disrupting existing operations. Effective communication with users, management, and external vendors. Additional Asset Experience with machine learning, AI-assisted workflows, predictive analytics, document processing, or intelligent automation is considered an asset.

$60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
