We are seeking a motivated, self-directed Developer / Technical Lead to support technology initiatives focused on Indigenous language research, preservation, and education. This role is ideal for someone who can take ownership of technical work, move projects forward independently, and collaborate effectively with researchers, educators, and community partners. The position centers on building and maintaining software, data workflows, and digital tools that support language documentation, analysis, learning, and access. The ideal candidate combines strong development skills with an understanding of linguistics, data processing, and language technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain software tools and platforms for Indigenous language research and education Build and support web applications, databases, APIs, and digital resources for language learning and documentation Develop data processing workflows for text, audio, lexical, and educational materials Work independently to identify technical needs, propose solutions, and carry projects through implementation Collaborate with linguists, educators, researchers, and community stakeholders to translate needs into practical technical systems Support server deployment, maintenance, and system reliability Contribute to machine learning and language technology efforts, including analysis, modeling, and data preparation Assist with computational approaches to linguistic data, including annotation, corpus processing, parsing, classification, or related tasks Document systems, workflows, and development practices clearly Help ensure respectful, ethical, and secure stewardship of linguistic and cultural data

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in computational linguistics, NLP, or language technology Experience working with language corpora, dictionaries, transcription, annotation, or other linguistic datasets Familiarity with Indigenous language research, language revitalization, or educational technology Experience with full-stack application development, database design, and system integration Knowledge of ethical, community-centered approaches to cultural and language data Background in linguistics, digital humanities, computer science, or a related field

Pay:
$55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
