Software Developer (Part-Time / Flexible) - Help Grow a Healthcare Software Product Comp Neuro-Vision & Rehabilitation Center of Northern California Folsom, CA Job Details Part-time | Contract $40,000 - $60,000 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications HIPAA PostgreSQL GitHub TypeScript React Native Full Job Description About Us We're a neuro-optometric rehabilitation practice in Folsom that helps patients recover from concussions and brain injuries as well as children with vision related learning difficulites. We also help athletes improve their visual performance through our sports vision program, Elite Vision Performance. We built our own electronic health record (EHR) system because off-the-shelf options didn't fit how specialty practices like ours work. It's running in our office today but can use additional work. Now we want to develop it further and turn it into a product other providers can buy and use. The Role You'll work directly with the practice owner to take our EHR from an in-house tool and continue to develop it. You'll see your work used every day by our own clinic, and you'll help shape what other practices use next. This is a chance to get in early on a real healthcare software product, with room to grow as it scales. What You'll Do Continue developing and improving our EHR, including new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements Help prepare the platform for other practices to use: separate accounts for each practice, user roles and permissions, onboarding, and subscription billing Maintain the system day-to-day: hosting, backups, updates, and security Support secure, HIPAA-conscious handling of patient data Manage the codebase on GitHub and help plan priorities and release timelines Contribute to our related projects as time allows: a patient therapy app and a sports vision athlete app Use AI coding tools (like Claude Code) to build quickly and efficiently Translate ideas from a non-technical owner into working software, and explain technical trade-offs in plain language What We're Looking For Early-career developer: recent grad, bootcamp grad, self-taught builder, or someone looking for a meaningful side project with real upside Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React or React Native Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Supabase, or similar) - we use Supabase. Familiarity with Git/GitHub A portfolio, GitHub profile, or personal projects you can show us. We care more about what you've built than where you studied. Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable owning a project with regular check-ins Nice to Have Experience building SaaS or multi-user web applications Knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare data security, or experience in health tech Interest in growing into a lead or product development role as the software grows Why You'll Like It Ownership of a real product that is already in use, not a hypothetical startup idea A chance to help launch healthcare software to the wider market Flexible hours that work alongside school, a full-time job, or other projects Direct access to decision-making, with no layers of management Strong portfolio work, with room to grow with the company To Apply Submit your resume along with a link to your GitHub or portfolio. In 2-3 sentences, tell us about something you've built that you're proud of.
