Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a local freelance developer, computer-science student, recent graduate, or self-taught API enthusiast for a small, clearly defined software-integration project. This is not a full-time position or a large software build. We are looking for one technically capable person who enjoys solving API problems and may be interested in occasional project work as our business grows. Initial Project Our immediate goal is to evaluate and implement an API-based workflow between our existing business systems.
The project involves:
Reviewing available API documentation and permissions Confirming the correct authentication method Evaluating available queries, mutations, and webhooks Determining whether the requested workflow can be completed through the existing API Creating a basic proof of concept in a sandbox environment Recommending the simplest secure implementation Providing clear documentation of the completed work Future Projects If the initial project is successful, additional work may include: Connecting additional business platforms Automating program and payment-related workflows Improving quantity-based checkout calculations Creating triggers between ordering, enrollment, and fulfillment systems Developing other small operational automations Each additional project would be defined and priced separately. Desired Qualifications Applicants should have experience with, or a working knowledge of: REST or GraphQL APIs API authentication, keys, headers, and permissions Webhooks JSON Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or a similar language Testing API requests in a sandbox environment Secure credential management Creating simple technical documentation Experience with healthcare software, scheduling platforms, payment systems, subscriptions, installment billing, or fulfillment systems would be helpful but is not required. Project Structure and Compensation This is an independent-contractor opportunity with work completed through small, preapproved milestones. The first milestone is a paid technical assessment and proof of concept.
It will include:
Reviewing the relevant API documentation Confirming that the issued access credentials and permissions function properly Identifying which parts of the requested workflow are supported Recommending the simplest implementation Demonstrating a basic sandbox request, if supported Providing a short written summary of findings and recommended next steps Compensation for the initial assessment: $150 fixed fee. No additional work may be performed or billed without written approval. If the assessment confirms that the project is feasible, implementation will be divided into separately priced, fixed-fee milestones. Location Local applicants are strongly preferred. We are located in Inverness, Florida, and welcome applicants from Citrus, Marion, Hernando, Sumter, and surrounding counties. Most development work may be completed remotely, but applicants should be available for an occasional in-person meeting if needed. Security and Confidentiality The selected contractor will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement and Business Associates Agreement (BAA) before receiving platform-specific information or access. Production credentials, patient information, and other confidential business information will not be provided during the application process. Any approved access will be limited to what is necessary for the project and must be handled securely.
How to Apply Please provide:
A brief description of your API or software-development experience Examples of API integrations, automations, or similar projects you have completed The programming languages and tools you typically use Confirmation that you can complete the initial assessment for the stated fixed fee Your general availability Your location Students and newer developers are welcome to apply if they can demonstrate the technical ability to complete the work. We care more about problem-solving ability, clear communication, confidentiality, and follow-through than formal titles or years of experience.
Pay:

Benefits:
