Software Development Engineer III The Software Development Engineer III is responsible for designing, building, and delivering scalable software solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and support enterprise systems. This role requires strong technical execution, solid system design skills, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to project delivery and team success. This is a hybrid role, located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain software applications across web, cloud, and enterprise platforms; partner with business and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions; write and improve code using modern development practices including CI/CD; support production systems through troubleshooting and performance optimization; participate in testing and ensure quality through automation; contribute to system design decisions, including prototypes and proofs of concept; and collaborate with team members while mentoring junior engineers and sharing knowledge. What You'll Bring Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems Five (5) years of software development experience, knowledge of software development lifecycle, and skills to utilize one or more programming languages Preferred Qualifications Experience working with cloud solutions. Experience in healthcare industry or a highly regulated environment. Technical knowledge and experience with specific technical tools used at Premera (i.e. Facets) or required for open position. Previous experience in an agile environment. Exposure to API and service-based technologies. Experience using and creating automated test tools. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Highly proficient skill and knowledge in developing systems and applications to solve business problems in variety of situations. Successful development and deployment of technology solutions. High quality application of systems coding and development tools and techniques. Strong systems knowledge as well as application of best practices. Ability to adapt rapidly to new technologies and products. Ability to represent your team to other teams or leaders. Ability to collaborate and help others understand your differing points of view. Ability to continually improve technical knowledge and skills and share technical knowledge with others. Ability to play a lead role when needed related to technology development and deployment. Strong written and verbal communication skills and good presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrates professionalism in difficult situations. Ability to think creatively. Demonstrated good judgment and decision making. Demonstrates skill in using logic and reasoning skills. The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience. The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Plus Salary Range:
$111,900.00 - $190,200.00 •National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
