Job Title:
Software Engineer Job Description This Software Engineer role focuses on transforming legacy Visual Basic code into modern solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio, integrating KBMax-driven applications with Solidworks, and connecting these systems to a sign building platform. The engineer will develop, maintain, and improve software applications, while contributing to testing, quality assurance, and documentation within a collaborative development team. Responsibilities Transform legacy Visual Basic code into modern solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio and related technologies. Integrate new and existing software applications with Solidworks and a sign building system. Identify, document, and report software deficiencies and defects in a clear and timely manner. Assist in manual testing, including reviewing test results and contributing to quality metrics. Become proficient in the use of software testing tools and methodologies to improve product quality. Work closely with users and internal personnel to answer questions, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems. Create automated test scripts for regression testing to ensure stability of new and existing features. Develop, debug, and maintain software applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and the .NET framework. Perform code maintenance on existing software products, including refactoring and enhancements. Collaborate within a development team to analyze problems, propose solutions, and implement improvements. Write unit tests for new and existing code to support robust and maintainable software. Complete high-quality work within agreed timelines and project schedules. Assist in the development of software product requirements and design documentation. Perform other related duties as needed or assigned to support project and business objectives. Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours to support team and project needs. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with Visual Basic and Microsoft Visual Studio. Strong understanding of the .NET framework and its application in software development. Computer Science degree or experience, or a mechanical engineering with a computer science focus. Ideally 1-2 years of professional software development experience. Ability to quickly learn new concepts and tools and work autonomously when needed. Good oral and written communication skills. Good organizational skills and strong self-motivation. Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience integrating applications with Solidworks. Knowledge of C#, C++, and/or Java programming languages. Familiarity with KBMax or similar configuration and automation tools. Interest in visual branding, identity, or related industries. Desire to grow within a company experiencing substantial order and business growth. Appreciation for performance-based recognition such as raises or bonuses tied to company and personal performance. Work Environment This role offers a hybrid work environment, with some remote work combined with in-office presence 2-3 days per week when starting. As the engineer becomes more proficient and up to speed, the balance may shift toward additional remote work time.
